In 1814-1816, the Swiss painter Jacques Christoph Mivil traveled to the Caucasus and Crimea, lived for some time on the estate of the Tauride Governor A. M. Borozdin. During the trip,.-TO.Mivil performed a large number of drawings, according to which, upon returning to Basel in 1817–1819, paints painted. The completed species were sent to St. Petersburg for sale. Inkerman is a city in Crimea, located 7 km east of Sevastopol. The first fortification on the monastery rock appeared in the VI century. In 1475, Turkish troops captured the fortress, called it Inkerman and owned it until the 18th century. The city gained worldwide fame after the Battle of Inkerman, which occurred on October 24, 1854 between the Russians and the Anglo-French forces.
