The artist is Kuindzhi

Arkhip Kuindzhi was a true innovator who anticipated the formal searches of Russian avant -garde artists. And. Kramskoy wrote: “In Russia, no one was so sensitive to a very subtle difference between the tones close to Kuinji, and …No one distinguished how he, what colors complement and strengthen each other ". The painter himself said that a real artist is one who knows how to catch and reflect in the picture an inner feeling in his integrity.

“Night” is the last work in which all the creative searches of the artist were embodied. This elemental canvas returns the viewer to the traditions of art of the second half of the nineteenth century. It is filled with melody, poetry of native places, shrouded in its majestic and solemn beauty. In the landscape, the artist was able to guess and reveal the quiet awakening of nature in the predawn hour. Silence and peace make it possible to feel the infinity of the world and its earthly attractiveness with particular acuteness.

Simultaneously with works in which the decorative beginning prevails, at the beginning of the 20th century, Kuindzhi creates paintings (including the canvas „Night “(1905-1908), solved in purely tonal relationships. They are meditative and full of lyricism. In them, the artist seems to summarize his playful searches and thoughts about the essence of being.

And in recent years, Kuindzhi retained love for the Ukrainian nature that once fascinated him. She splashed with renewed vigor in his last work „Night ". This elegic in mood of the canvas testifies how strong bonds were associated by masters with long -time eighty years. No wonder he writes it in the traditions of art of the second half of the XIX century. Like the music that sounded in the soul of the artist at the time of creation „Moon night at the Dnieper, "again swept it with its singing melody.

In the picture delights the ability to guess and reveal what can be seen only by an internal eye: a quiet awakening of nature at a predawn hour. Silence spilled in it and peace make it possible to feel the infinity of the world and its earthly attractiveness with particular acuteness. The once created image of a majestic-native nature was now enriched with deep sincere notes. Irina Shuvalova. Kuindzhi in the Russian Museum // Arkhip Kuindzhi. SPb, 2010. With.25.
