The artist is Serov

The picture was painted on the banks of the Gulf of Finland at the dacha of the artist in Ino, near Teriook (the name was the place near St. Petersburg until 1948. Now – the city of Zelenogorsk). The picture depicts the son of the artist Alexander and the horse of Rillik.

In this canvas, Serov harmoniously connected the images of youth and free elements, the personification of which is a beautiful, sensitively listening horse and penetrated by light energy, sea space sheltered by the wind. In the inherent canor of the major system, solarity, expression of the image, contemporaries of the master saw a reflection of the public mood of the era of the first Russian revolution, their hopes for the transformation of Russian life.
