AT. E. Raev wrote: “When the construction of the Alexander column ended, a few days before its opening around it, rehearsals of the prescribed parade occurred around it on the square. I took advantage of this and wrote an approximate movement of the troops and the area of the square from the Admiralty Roof, and on the day the column was opened, I completely ended with oil paints, rather a sketch that represented the entire celebration of the opening of the column ”.
