The artist is Levitan
The work “Outgrown Pond” is a confirmation of the close ties of the creativity of Isaac Levitan with the traditions of the domestic realistic landscape. The picture was launched under the influence of the work of the same name by Vasily Polenov, the teacher and older friend of Levitan, probably, on one of the visits of the young painter for the gangway of the Polenovs “Zhukovka” in the summer of 1887. The artist combined his natural originality and “recognition” of typical features of Russian nature in the captured corner of the village landscape.
