Since 1824, in his estate of the Safonkovo Tver province, the Venetians taught painting and a drawing of gifted young people, mainly serfs. Models for them were peasants and yard people. The portrait demonstrates the excellent possession of technical skills and thoroughly following nature – the fundamental requirement of the artistic method a. G. Venetianov. At the same time, the work has the softness and sincereness inherent in the work of the best representatives of the Venetian school.
